Introduction to Media Law

TWO DAY COURSE

Designed to be more practical than academic. Real examples are used as exercises. The topics covered include: Defamation (libel, slander and malicious falsehood) and copyright. Defence to breaches of both. A guide to office procedure when threatened with libel action; and commissioning and buying copyright material. Delegates are encouraged to submit, in advance, their own examples. A full set of notes will be given to each delegate.

Who should attend
Everyone who works in journalism and publishing who has not had any formal legal training. Sub-editors, in particular, will benefit from this course.
