Journalism and media training

Fifteen years of success...and still going strong

The Journalism Training Centre, now known as JTC...

Founded in 1993 to meet the needs of the publishing industry at a time when most training was on-the-job in-house training carried out by experts in their field but not always hot stuff with training methods, .... the JTC continues to provide first-class training for the 21st century.

Academic "training" was non-vocational and equipped media students with a great deal of theory and little practical expertise. Often this tuition was given not by journalists and media practitioners but by academics well-versed in their subject but with little of no hands-on experience.

The JTC took the in-house training out of the newsroom and the academic learning out of the lecture hall and brought it together in a specially created training centre run by working journalists trained in the art of ...er, training.

The highly successful and vocational postgraduate course in periodical journalism gave many of today's top journalists their start in the industry.

Today, still keeping in line with the needs of print, broadcast and new media , the JTC continues to offer specialise training by working journalists equipped with years of teaching experience.

Our trainers now go into businesses, charities as well as the offices of broadcasters and publishers helping to hone the communication skills of staff both inside and outside the media. Executives and managers have improved their skills of commuicating with the media, with their customers, with their staff and with themselves thanks to the bespoke training offer by the JTC.

Can you afford not to get your message across? Let us help in this important task.
